ALEQ was formed mainly by the members who participated in the activities of "Student Voluntary Research Project" held at Aichi Prefectural University in 2019.

Here, under the auspices of the Japanese paper export trading company "Moriki Paper", the Japanese paper exhibition "The Story of Washi in New York" was held in New York, USA from the end of February 2019 in order to spread the recognition of Japanese paper, which is Japanese culture, to the world.

17 students of Aichi Prefectural University and Aichi Prefectural University of the Arts participated in this project. They have some aspirations such as "I want to learn practically outside the university", "I want to take on new challenges that only students can do", and "I want an opportunity to utilize my strengths in language skills and artistry". Not limited to the exhibition of Japanese paper works, the exhibition was held with the ideas and action of students, such as creating panels regarding to Japanese paper, venue layout, workshops, public relations with SNS and local promotion. More than 200 visitors attended.

"I would like to take on new challenges by making use of the knowledge and ability to act that I have acquired through the activities of the year".  "I want to convey to my juniors the valuable experiences that can be gained through practical learning". With this in mind, the activity started under the name "ALEQ".
